Privacy Policy

CurbCutz ("CurbCutz," "we," "us") runs the CurbCutz app for iPhone and Android and the website curbcutz.com. CurbCutz connects people who need lawn care ("customers") with independent lawn care businesses ("pros"). This policy explains what information we collect, why, who we share it with and the choices you have. We wrote it in plain language. If anything is unclear, email support@curbcutz.com.
The short version
- We collect what we need to run bookings and prove the work was done: your account details, your yard's address, bookings, job photos and, for pros, location while a job is open.
- We share your details only with the people and services needed to do the job, such as the pro you book or the customer you serve, and the companies that host and run CurbCutz for us.
- We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use it for targeted advertising. There are no advertising trackers in the app or on the website. The website counts visits, but not for advertising.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, email address, password (stored scrambled, never in plain text), and whether you're a customer or a pro. Every account must turn on two-step verification. The code setup is handled by our sign-in provider.
- Yards (customers): the address, town, yard size and notes you add, such as gate codes or pets.
- Bookings and quotes: the services you book, dates, how often, prices, VIP requests, quote descriptions and the photos you add to quote requests.
- Pro business details: business name, the name customers see, home town, services, prices, work schedule and limits, days off, and the insurance certificate and policy details you upload.
- Reviews and ratings: star ratings, tags, written reviews, tips you choose, and problem reports with their photos. Pros can also rate customers and add a private note for CurbCutz.
- Messages to us: app feedback, problem reports, support emails and anything you attach, such as screenshots.
- Website sign-ups: if you join the launch waitlist or apply for the pro beta on curbcutz.com, we collect what you enter. That's your email, city, state and ZIP code, and for pros also your name, business name, phone number, services, crew size and insurance status.
Information collected when you use CurbCutz
- Job photos and location (pros): when a pro starts and finishes a job, the app takes before and after photos with the in-app camera. It records each photo's time and the phone's location (GPS), how accurate that location is, and whether the phone reported a simulated location. We use this to confirm the work was done at the right yard ("Verified on site"). The app only uses location while a job is open. It never tracks pros in the background or between jobs.
- Customers' location: the app doesn't use a customer's device location. We look up map coordinates for the yard address you enter so pros can plan routes and job photos can be checked.
- Device and app details: when you send feedback or the app hits an error, we collect the platform (iOS or Android), operating system version, device model, app version, the screen you were on, your account ID and role, and the time. Error reports don't include your email, address or payment details.
- Website: the website doesn't use advertising cookies. Our website host, Lovable, counts visits for us. It records the page viewed, the site you came from, your browser, language and country (guessed from your time zone), and how fast the page loaded. It uses a random session ID that's stored in your browser for 30 minutes. We use these totals only to see how the website is doing. Our hosting and security providers also process basic technical information, such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver pages and block abuse. Sign-up forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots.
Information from others
- Payments (when turned on): our payment processor, Stripe, tells us whether a payment, payout or identity check succeeded. Card numbers, bank account numbers and tax ID numbers (SSN/EIN) go straight to Stripe. CurbCutz never stores them.
- Background checks and identity verification (pros, when offered): we receive only the result, such as "passed," from the provider you use.
How we use information
- To create and secure your account, including two-step verification.
- To show pros, take bookings and quotes, plan pros' routes and drive times, and send booking updates.
- To prove work was done: comparing job photos' location and time with the yard, and checking that photos aren't reused.
- To handle reviews, problem reports, touch-ups, credits and refunds, and to keep the marketplace fair. For example, we watch for repeated false claims or faked photos.
- To review pros before they appear on CurbCutz, including their insurance.
- To answer support requests and feedback and to fix bugs and crashes.
- To contact website sign-ups about the beta and the launch.
- To meet legal obligations, such as tax reporting through Stripe, and to protect people's safety and property.
What other people can see
- Everyone using the app sees a published pro's business name, the name they show customers, town, services, prices, rating, number of jobs, reviews and badges (such as "Insured"). Reviews show the customer's first name and last initial only.
- A pro you book sees your name, the yard's address and notes, the booking details, your average customer rating and anything you add to the booking or a problem report.
- A customer a pro serves sees that pro's job photos, the "Verified on site" result and the pro's replies to a problem report.
- Customers see their own average rating from pros but never who rated them or the private notes.
Who we share information with
We share information only as described here:
- Pros and customers, as described above, to do the job.
- Service providers that run CurbCutz for us under contracts that limit how they use the information:
- Supabase (database, sign-in and file storage)
- Google Maps Platform (address lookup and drive times)
- Sentry (app error reports)
- Expo (app updates)
- Lovable and Cloudflare (website hosting and visit counts, domain, email forwarding and bot checks)
- our email delivery provider (sign-in codes and account emails)
- When these features launch:
- Stripe (payments, payouts, identity checks and tax forms)
- Twilio (text messages)
- an identity or background-check provider
- Anthropic (an AI assistant that helps answer support requests; it never sees tax IDs or bank details)
- Legal and safety: when the law requires it, or to protect the rights, property or safety of our users, the public or CurbCutz.
- Business transfers: if CurbCutz is sold or merged, your information would move with it under this policy.
Text messages: no mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
How long we keep information
- Account information: while your account is open. After you close it, we delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except what we must keep, listed below.
- Job photos and proof records: about 18 months after the job, so they're available for disputes and card chargebacks.
- Quote photos: 30 days after a quote closes without a booking, or about 18 months when the quote is booked.
- Payment and tax records: as long as the law requires, usually up to 7 years.
- Error reports and app feedback: up to 2 years.
- Website sign-ups: until you create an account, or up to 12 months after CurbCutz launches in your area, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- Staff action records: our audit log of staff actions is kept to protect accounts and investigate problems.
How we protect information
Information is encrypted in transit. Every account must use two-step verification. Photos and documents are stored privately and shown only to the people involved. CurbCutz staff see only what their role needs, and staff actions are logged. No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach that affects you, we'll tell you as the law requires.
Your choices and rights
- See or correct: you can update most details in the app. Email us for a copy of your information.
- Delete: you can ask us to delete your account and information (see Delete your account).
- Location: you can turn off location for CurbCutz in your phone's settings. Pros can't start or finish a job without it, because location is how jobs are verified.
- Text messages: reply STOP to any CurbCutz text to stop texts (see Text message terms).
- Website sign-ups: email us to be removed from the waitlist or beta list.
Depending on where you live, you may have other rights under state law. To use any right, email support@curbcutz.com from the email address on your account. We'll confirm your identity and respond within 30 days.
Children
CurbCutz is for adults 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
When we make an important change, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.
